The Academy

If you had lived 100 years ago, probably you wouldn’t have known that the first Olympic Games were being held in Athens. But today the Olympic Games are followed by over 5 billion people from all corners of the world and no matter what race, colour or religion all top athletes compete together in one city every four years.

Although we are a small country and our athletes have never won any medals in the Olympic Games, the spirit of Olympism should be in the attitude of every athlete who loves sports.

The Maltese Olympic Academy is constantly working to promote the values of Olympism such as:

Unity and friendship among people;
Physical and moral development;
Fair play etc.

It also reminds athletes of the noble words of Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games:

“Effort is the supreme joy and success is not a goal but a means to aim higher”.

To help spread the idea of Olympism, the MOA organizes seminars and courses. It also has an Olympic Museum and a Sports Library at the University Sports Complex.

Help us build a better world through sport.
