Highlighted Events –   San Gwann Easter International Football T’ment / Shooting

The San Gwann Youth Football Nursery organized their annual International Tournament between the 4th and the 14th April 2009. The fourteenth edition of The Mediterranean Cup had no fewer than 48 teams, over 700 participants, one team each from Italy and Germany and 22 local Football Nurseries, making the Annual Easter Tournament the largest festival of Youth football locally. The teams competed in six different categories ranging from the Under 8’s up till the under 13’s.

Marksmanship has inspired competition, and in several countries rifle clubs started to form in the 19th century. Soon international shooting events evolved, including shooting at the Summer Olympics (from 1896) and World Championships (from 1897). The International Shooting Sport Federation still administers Olympic and non-Olympic rifle, pistol, shotgun and running target shooting competitions, although there is also a large number of national and international shooting sports controlled by unrelated organizations. During the past weekend  a Trap Event was held at the Bidnija Range.

Schedule available every week on www.nocmalta.org and on the Malta Independent newspaper every Tuesday. Produced in collaboration with E22.
