Thursday 5th June is the official date when the Maltese Olympic Committee celebrated its 80th anniversary. To mark this occasion a Mass was held at 6.45 p.m at the Millennium Chapel, Paceville, St.Julian’s. The Mass was celebrated by Fr.Hilary Tagliaferro. Former MOC officials, former Malta Olympians as well as representatives from affiliated associations attended for the celebration.

The Maltese Olympic Committee this year is holding various activities to mark this event. It will also be publishing a series of 4 commemorative post cards which represent four different aspects of Malta’s first participation in the Olympic Games in 1928

Highlighted Event – Mountain Bike / Archery

Mountain Biking is a relatively minor sport but the interest being shown in this sport is cropping up. This week the cameras of MIA Olympic Magazine covered the Mountain Bike Cycling Race which was held at Delimara.

The Malta Archery Association organized it’s National Outdoor Championships. These championships are spread over two weeks with the competition going on the following week. Once again the venue for this event was the Marsa Sports Grounds.
