The Malta DanceSport Association (MDA) was set up in 1994. In such a short period of time, it has made great strides in promoting Latin and Ballroom dancing so much so that numerous couples today practice this sport to their great satisfaction.
The MDA is a full member of the International Dancesport Federation (IDSF), which is made up of 86 Federations and Associations worldwide. It is also recognized and appreciated in Malta through the annual organisation of an international IDSF competition of the highest levels. This competition is usually held in the last three months of the year, and the best of Maltese and other contestants from European and non-European countries compete for the international honours.
Winners of the National competitions represent Malta abroad in I.D.S.F. European and World Championships. It is only fair to say that the Malta Olympic Committee has always contributed towards the success of the Competitions and to the development and improvement of the individual athletes. The MTA and Air Malta have also helped to sponsor the International competitions in previous years.

It is also timely to state that MDA has recently appointed a more energetic administrative committee which has promised to render an even better service to its existing members, as well as enhance a greater awareness and appreciation towards Latin and Ballroom dancing to the general public.

The benefits of dancing will soon be demonstrated by means of various activities, information and educational programmes that MDA has in store for the near future. MDA, through its activities contributes towards the social and educational development of its members.
It is well known that dancing knows no age, culture, creed or education and anyone can learn to dance irrespective of age.  The introduction of beginners' courses in Latin American Dancing and Ballroom  at Ta Paris has enlarged the MDA family. This is the 5th year that the MDA is holding these Dance Courses. Many dancers are showing great progress in their dances.

Once a dancer decides to venture into the competitive sphere he/she automatically gets individual advanced attention by the professional body.

Every 2 weeks the MDA holds Dance Practice at Ta' Paris Boys College now called St Theresa College.( infront of the VAT office) All the students who attend the Dance courses come along together with their friends to dance and chat over a cup of tea and coffee.

Proper dancing shoes and comfortable clothes are important for any dancer during practice sessions.

The beautiful flowing sequined costumes of females and elegant tails for men in ballroom dancing, and the colourful costumes in the Latin discipline, enhance the festive atmosphere in the showdancing and in competitions.

The event commission of the MDA has a calendar of events ready for all who would like to attend the MDA functions.
