Activities · Olympic Day Run

The Malta “Olympic Day Run” is held annually and is organized by the Malta Olympic Committee. It last took place on Friday 22nd June at 6.00pm and was held at the Ta’ Qali National Park. Two separate races were held, for juniors (3km) and seniors (6km). All participants receive a signed certificate of the President of the International Olympic Committee; and prizes are awarded to the first 3 placings in each race (males/females). Such an event is well attended by local athletes (minimum 200), families and friends and is widely reported in all media (TV, Press, Radio). This annual event brings together people of all ages and from all levels of society to celebrate the spirit of the occasion, whether participating for fun or aiming to actually win the race. Participation is free.

The Malta Olympic Committee has the additional option of obtaining a local sponsor for the local Run. All the local athletic clubs and other affiliated sport associations are invited and their members encouraged to participate. The local media are also provided with all the relevant information prior to the event to inform the general public. Colourful posters are printed and distributed promoting this event. On the actual day the media are invited to cover the event. The race provides opportunities for Sponsor logo/name identification on printed material, placement of banners along the race route, start/finishing lines, at the refreshing station (mid-way and at the end) and provides an opportunity to give out give-away items to participants and spectators.
