The success of any major sporting event depends on the sterling work carried out by hundreds of volunteers who contribute to the smooth running and organisation of the event. Malta will be hosting the tenth edition of the Games of Small States of Europe in June 2003 after a ten-year span.

While athletes may be the stars of the event, volunteers are the hidden faces of every success story. The next edition of the GSSE will be no exception as more than a thousand athletes and officials will converge on to our island to savour our renowned Mediterranean hospitality. Some 800 volunteers will be needed to ensure that Malta 2003 will go down in the history books as another success story. It is the Organising Committee's goal to involve as many people as possible from all walks of life to experience this unique event.
The Organising Committee is making an official call for volunteers to sign up and pledge their contribution to the Games.

Training will be provided and volunteers are bound to step into a new network of friendship in a sporting environment. Every person counts. The aim is to bring the Games as close as possible to people's hearts.
